Permaculture

‘Permaculture is a Design system for resilient living and land use…in tune with local surpluses and limits. ’

(D.Holmgren, ‘Retro Suburbia’ Nov 2020)

Permaculture encourages whole system thinking, based on ethics and principles.

Permaculture shows ways, preparing us for an uncertain future with less reliable energy, it is a living and evolving system.

We love the encouraging words by Stuart B Hill ‘Never use the word design without immediately adding re-design – design and re-design!‘ It is clear that we make mistakes, plant a tree in the wrong place, so we change, adapt and re-design.

Permaculture isn’t a form of gardening – it’s a method of inquiry about relationships – that’s all it is. And it’s awesome and in that way it’s similar to traditional ecological knowledge from all over the planet and it’s a constantly shifting evolving body of knowledge too, that’s never the same in the same place twice. Love it!‘ Tyson Yunkaporta

What connects Permaculture and Human Design

  • Diversity is the spice of life;
  • We all have different needs and so do plants and animals.
  • We thrive in certain environments and not in others, and so do plants and animals.
  • We like certain people and don’t tolerate others, and so do plants and animals.
  • We like to soak up the energy of the sun, and so do plants and animals.
  • We die prematurely when neglected, and so do plants and animals.

Know who you are designed to be and design life supporting systems around you.

The lack of acceptance of difference in humanity has led to many confrontations. The lack of bio diversity has led to deficient soils and food lacking in nutrients. Through Permaculture we can design interdependent and complimentary systems that regenerate the soil and thus improve the quality of our food. The knowledge of our Human Design teaches us to accept how different we all are and that in a way like plants, we thrive in certain environments and falter in others.

Human Design offers a map, the Human Design bodygraph, for your journey of self discovery. In Permaculture we aim to design resilient systems for life and living. We have always been very interested in Zone Zero, ‘what’s between our ears’ and in our body and we feel that the science of Differentiation, called Human Design fills that space successfully.

The knowledge of both these systems can empower us all to move into the future with respect and support for each other.
